In the shadow of the tragic events in Ukraine, many processes are taking place that will radically change our societies and economies.
At some point, they become the focus of public and political decisions. One of them is excess profit – as described by the media in Europe – a tax on those sectors that make excessive (unearned) profits in the context of the war in Ukraine. This topic appeared in the European media space in the spring and has now reached the agenda of the European Union leaders.
Is it “fair” to make so much profit during the war in Ukraine, for which Russia is directly to blame? This question is now high on the agenda of Western European experts and politicians.
